Travel Through Time

TRAVEL THROUGH TIME
EACH POSSIBLITY MENTIONED

Who does not want to travel through time? I would love to travel to the past, you know visit the Romans, see them fighting, go to Jesus’s time and see him preaching, be sure if he ever resurrected. See J.F.K. assassinated, who was that shooter? Or go to the future, see humans fighting aliens proving human are so innovative and united when faced with danger. Is it really possible to travel through time? Why should I want something that I will never get?

Travel & time. Travel on the medium of time. Like most non-conventional things this too needs outside the box thinking. I want to give my input to this discussion with some realistic answers. The short answer is Yes and No. I begin saying something as bold as this; we already do in some sorts. But first, let’s dissect these two words travel & time. To travel meaning leaving from one area and arriving at another area through a medium like transport as in a car, train, plane, ferry or a bicycle even walking. It can also mean metaphorically like visiting a museum and feeling transported to another era or watching your old VHS and feeling transported to your younger times. Or you awake-dream to your future or past time. Time is what supposed to be the medium to travel on. Time is based on reliable continued periods like from sunset to sundown as in sun clocks, heartbeats, pendulum motion or ossicalating crystal quartz. The unit is seconds, hours or can be years. Time is what not there. It’s is a human concept.

Second, in physics, per the law of entropy, impossible is just fraction of possibility, so everything is possible in some sense. For example, you have an egg on the edge of a table it is very probable that egg will fall onto the floor and break. It’s also probable for that egg become a whole again even thought that possibility is very tiny like 1 in a trillion or less. It is possible some present to become past or the some past to become the present. So, if you know every position of atoms inside the whole egg you can bring back the egg to whole again that was its past. If information’s lost, you can bring it back.

Theoretical physicist Dr. Ronald Mallett has invented a laser machine which is based on Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity. He demonstrated that information can be sent to past and future by manipulating neutrons inside atoms. However physical objects are not. This area are still in development and they are some promising results.

And the light always travelling at 300,000 m/s never slows down never speeds up. In theory, since we cannot slow down the speed of light, if we try to through either mirrors of refraction or some other method, what would be slowing down is the time.

Thirdly, virtual reality. You could go to past if you have recorded it and if you have created it in animations. Our eyes see the World in 3D and 16K resolution. We used to record on VHS tapes in SD quality and 2D, but now we can record 3D and in HD resolution. You put on 3D glasses and you are there in the recording. When you watch your old VHS tapes, don’t you feel you went to past? So, you already do in some sense. You don’t recognise it as such as you know it is a recording. So, not to lose the past you had better start recording today!

Who knows in the future we might record as good quality as our eyes sees it. And 3D games becoming life-like. So you travel to past through these recordings or animations imitating our world, encapsulating all of your senses, unable to distinguish the difference of virtual reality and the reality. Going to the past and future can happen this way, through the medium of these synthetic constructions. Virtual reality that reassembles reality.

If anyone watched The Time Machine written by H.G. Wells where the inventor dials dates into his machine, you’ll see that magically he is transported to past or future. In the future you could have this machine, you can still dial dates but everything you see will be actual recordings or created-up. You can even walk out of the machine and see sights and seeing as much as they have recorded or rendered in virtual reality. The smell or touch can be synthetized too. This could be in an entertainment centre or an attraction park.

Fourthly, the atomic scale. I might be breathing same 02 molecules as Aristotle breathe, so to go back to Aristotle time atom by atom the 02 molecules that are in my lungs need to go to Aristotle’s lungs. So Aristotle and I cannot exist at the same time. I cannot go to Aristotle times or Aristotle cannot come to my time in the atomic scale, as the atoms like the 02 molecules are finite and cannot be duplicated. Atoms the never dying entity of the Universe. 4.5 billion years or more. All of them recycling themselves from past to future. They just reposition themselves. It is us who name the future or the past. Atoms only have the now which is the present. Past is gone if you want to go back to it, you needed to know every position of the atoms at that time and also you need destroy the now to re-arrange atoms to their past position.

Fifthly and last point, the Black holes. When you arrive at the edge of a black hole like we have in the centre of our Milky Way, time goes faster. So if you had a space ship near the edge of black hole you slipped several seconds and it correspond to several earth years. So you had travelled to future in couple of seconds. This is possible but you only be going to future and at what cost? Universe is not all gain. You want to gain something you lose something. What make you think you don’t age faster near the black holes? You might be aging couple of years in couple of seconds. You gained going to future in split seconds but you aged the same earth years.

So in conclusion. Yes, it is possible to travel through time if you have recorded that time or created it. No, it’s not possible to travel through time as it doesn’t exist anymore or yet to exist. We should enjoy the now and make the most if it as it may never come back for us.
