UNIVERSITY INTERVIEW QUESTIONS EE ENGINEERING

If you’re going to have interview at a University particularly at Electronic & Electric related and wondered what questions they might ask here is my example of it, could give you some clues on what to prepare, mostly was mathematical. These questions asked to me, yours could be totally different. I’m not going to tell at which University these questions asked not to make it obvious.

Questions 1:
Draw a voltage divider circuit and calculate the voltage between two resistors.

Answer:

Ohm’s law= V= I x R
VS = I x R, 12 = I x 2+1, I = 12/3E3 = 0.004A I is same throughout the circuit
Voltage at V1 = 0.004 x 1E3 = 4V
Voltage at V2 = 0.004 x 2E3 = 8V

Question 2:
What is the Formula for Wattage and find other formulas from the relationship of Ohm’s law.
Answer:
Formula for wattage is P = I x V, formula for Ohm’s law is V = I x R so,
P = I x (I x R) = I x I x R = I2 x R
P= (V/R) x V = V x V / R = V2 / R

Question 3:
I have total of 36 components
I have 3 times more Resistors than Capacitors
I have 2 times more Capacitors than Inductors
How many of each components do I have?

Answer:

We first express it as an equation and use algebra to solve the question.
Total 36 = C + I + R
R= 3C, C = 2I, 36 = 2I + I + 3C

for Inductors; 36 = 2I + I + 3(2I), 36 = 3I +6I, 36 = 9I, I = 36/9 = 4

for Capacitors; 36 = 2(4) + 4 + 3(C), 36 = 8 + 4 + 3(C), 36 = 12 + 3C, 36 – 12 = 3C,
24 = 3C, C = 24/3 = 8

for Resistors; 36 = 2(4) + 4 + R , 36 = 12 + R, R = 36-12 = 24

so Resistors = 24, Capacitors = 8 Inductors = 4
To cross check
R = 3xC, 8x3 =24
C = 2xI, 4x2 = 8

24 + 8 + 4 = 36

Question 4:
It is a Derivative question.
If f(i) = R2  what is dR/di ?

Answer:
dR/di = 2R using the power rule.

Question 5:
Find dy/dx for y = Cos(5x) + sin (5x)

Answer:
dy/dx = -5sin(5x) + 5cos(5x)

Question 6:
Find the integral of cos(5x) + sin(5x)

Answer:
This requires integration by substitution.
= sin(5x) -cos(5x)/5 + C

How was the interview for me?
I have been greeted with a warm welcome by the Enrolment Tutor, from the reception area we moved to his office. He asked me; “Why did I choose this profession?” I said, “Since I was childhood I always wondered about Electronics and wanted to be able to repair and gather enough knowledge to make my own design…things like that.”

He then asked the first question above one a piece of paper. His pen was blue mine was green. I was surprised about the first question because I thought if the rest of the question are going to be like this I’m an easy go here. It made answer it in less detail. Big mistake. Answer it as it is normal question.
 After I finished answering first question he then asked me the second question. Some questions I didn’t expect like circuit question because couple of days ago I received an e-mail from the admission assistance saying that the questions was going to be mainly mathematical so I focused on Calculus mainly. At the interview none of the questions was foreign to me but I needed to expect what questions might be asked so I couldn’t perform my 100%.
I did asked the question “Did I pass?” He said he’ll think about it and for my situation has to advice to his peers. I think I did impress him in some areas but others I depress, overall if I did I think I barely made it. After the questions he guide me out and gave me University’s guidebook, saying “this is for you” which give me a kind of clue, He’s not leaning towards a definite No. He asked me “have you applied any other University” on the way out? Then we said “Goodbye!”

Why there should be a 2nd referendum?

UK REFERENDUM Why there needs to be a 2 nd referendum? 1 st reason Turnover was under 75%. It was 72%. 2 nd reason It was not a clear choice. It was 52% not no argument 80% or 70% or 67.2% that was in 1975, that should represent broad majority of people with a clear choice. 3 rd reason Biased. It did not reflect the population. It did not reflect London, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It reflected only some part of the Country, and some part of the working population. I did not see scores of London reflected in this referendum. London, the beacon, the power house of United Kingdom was not reflected in the Referendum. Purely based on this reason can be enough. Results look as if it biased and if a survey, study or test resulted similar outcome it would be discarded. 4 th reason Naivety. It is not as important as the ones but there was naivety in the public. This public had no experience of a referendum before since 1975, that’s a generation long gap. And ...
NATO Cyber Alliance (NATOC) - A New Threat in our Global World - These days, there are many means to attack a country, whether by militarily, politically, indiscriminately, financially and the new threat on Cyberspace. Any kind of attack on another country should still be considered as an attack and responded in same manner. A country should be able to defend itself in any form of threat. Biggest cyber threat today coming from regimes such as N. Korea and current Russia regime and what country there will be in the future. We had seen them attacking emails, secret conversation, meddling democracy, creating fake accounts, stealing virtual documents. These are all cyber attacks and should be defined as, especially if sponsored by a Government. At the moment the West doesn't have protection to counter-act that. There will be many forms of cyber attack in the future. Most our lives are more and more reliant on cyberspace, whether shopping, banking, diagnosing, secret conversat...
